Pembrokeshire is full of well-known beauty spots

The sweeping sands of Barafundle Bay, the colourful harbour at Tenby, the dramatic cliffs of St Davids. But for those willing to wander off the beaten path, there are some truly special places waiting to be discovered. Here’s our guide to a few local favourites — hidden gems you won’t find on every tourist map, but ones that make a holiday truly memorable.

The Coastal Path Between Wiseman’s Bridge and Amroth

Most people head west towards Tenby, but the quieter eastern stretch of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is just as rewarding. The walk from Wiseman’s Bridge to Amroth is peaceful, scenic, and often much less busy. You’ll pass through tunnels carved into the cliffs, once used by old mining trains, and enjoy incredible views across the bay — a great choice for a quiet afternoon stroll.

Colby Woodland Garden

Tucked away just a short drive from Saundersfoot, Colby Woodland Garden is a National Trust-managed valley full of wildflowers, streams, meadows and winding woodland paths. It’s especially beautiful in spring and early summer, and ideal for a peaceful escape with a picnic. Kids love the open space, and there’s a lovely tearoom on site too.

The Little Retreat Café at Lawrenny

Lawrenny is a sleepy village on the estuary, and its café is a true hidden gem. The views are stunning, the food is seasonal and locally sourced, and the atmosphere is calm and creative. It’s perfect for a slow afternoon – and just getting there is a scenic drive through quiet country lanes and woodlands.

Skrinkle Haven Beach

Just south of Manorbier, Skrinkle Haven is a small, tucked-away beach surrounded by cliffs, accessible via a steep set of steps. It’s worth the effort for its raw beauty and peaceful atmosphere. At low tide, you can even explore a hidden archway through the rock to Church Doors Cove — a magical spot that feels completely untouched.

Carew Tidal Mill and Castle Walk

Most people visit Carew Castle, but fewer explore the full circular walk that includes the medieval tidal mill across the estuary. The route is flat, family-friendly, and gives you a unique perspective of the castle from across the water — especially striking at sunset. It’s also a great place for birdwatching and photography.
